Shine in a bright yellow gown like Jenna Ushkowitz

Dying to look stunning on your prom night? Well, let’s take a leaf out of Jenna’s fashion book to wow the boys. Walk like you’re in a red carpet with this sleek gown in a flattering shade of bright yellow.

This Korean native cute actress has come a long way since her first foray in front of the cameras as one of the prime casts of the hit television series “Glee”. She may play shy Tina in Glee, but in that yellow sexy cut gown, she shows that she’s no wallflower with a stunning style statement. She’s indeed an exemplar that shy and petite type women have an edge in fashion.

I loved her look so much that I’ve tracked down a spot-on lookalike prom dresses by Dave and Johnny, available at Haute Generation. The form-fitting gown features the same plunging v-shape neckline and a gorgeously flirty hemline that drapes beautifully.

Sizes : 0 - 16
       List Price : $244.00
      Sale Price : $184.00

Simple accessories go well with this gown. Silver accessories will look you more elegant like having a shaped clutch metallic front panel and a chunky chain-link or gem encrusted bracelet and don’t forget your long or round earrings.

You can go for a bun look or loose hair, either blow dry or straight or style with hair straightening iron. Define your eyes with smudged black, grey or deep blue kohl eyeliner, then frame with two coats of volumizing mascara for a more dramatic look.

Be dazzling in sequins like Eva Longoria

If you want to shimmer in your prom night, take inspiration from Eva Longoria who dazzled fans and paparazzi alike on the 2010 Cannes Film Festival red carpet with her sparkling silhouette gown. The glittery crystal embellishment transforms the neutral shade, which look fabulous against the bronzed summer skin of Eva.

This petite Desperate Housewives actress completed her polished look with a pair of silver dangling earrings that complements her look.

For sure you will experience fashion euphoria by dressing like Eva Longoria courtesy of HauteGeneration’s collection. If wearing silk isn’t really your thing, go for a prom look that still makes a statement without compromising your personal style. Go for sequined prom dresses that would make you glitter in the night.

Meanwhile, this eye-catching sparkling glitzy mini dress is also the perfect prom dress for those who are looking for something little different.

When it comes to accessorizing, resist the urge to splurge on gem encrusted necklaces and bracelets – with a dress this sparkly it’s best to keep jewelries simple. But that doesn’t mean you need to be too restrained about it. You can try to put on Swarovski crystals that will surely add a “wow” factor. If you’re dark haired and olive-skinned like Eva, choose brown liquid eyeliner and tawny golden eyeshadow to complement your complexion.

Be glam-gothic like Lea Michelle

Lea looks stunningly beautiful with that Twilight-inspired black prom dress with fitted bodice and three inch above the knee tutu skirt.

This Glee superstar has gone a long way in terms of fashion – from an indoor whilst conservative type of lass to an outgoing and fashionable one.
Her black nail polish and scarlet lips adds more to portray the conventional gothic style. Instead of sporting pile OTT occult accessories, Lea Michelle went minimalist by slipping into a pair of super-shiny heels and lets her natural assets do the rest: glowing skin, glossy hair, and of course, loads of attitude.
Achieving Lea’s look will not be a tough feat with HauteGeneration’s myriad of prom dresses collection.
They put an extra twist on a dress like combining black and white colors for that oh-so-classy look.  You can pair the black and white dress with black gloves to create a more vampire chic drama.

Alternatively, if a gothic style does not appeal to you, try the light blue color dress for a more “sweet sixteen” look.

How to Be a Homecoming Diva

Tip #1:  Simple = Fashionable

Among the anticipated events in a girls' life is Homecoming.  It is considered the least formal affair of all school dances as compared to prom and winter formal, so going all decked out in ruffles, bows, and tulle may be a little off-beat.  This fall, think less is more! Try looking for a dress that is subtle and simple, and stick to a monotone pattern with bits of embellishments. Make an impression with your great fashion sense, not with a multitude of bells and whistles!

Tip #2:  Color Speaks Volumes

Incorporating color is the key. Fall is all about jeweled tones, so black and white just won't do! Bright bold colors like deep purple, magenta, blue (from royal to teal), canary yellow, olive, celery green, rustic orange red, and kelly green are dominating the casual market and making their way into evening wear. Alongside this jeweled color trend are metallics.  So also keep your eye out for silver and gold dresses, shoes, and accessories.

Tip #3:  Hollywood Knows Best

Donning a celebrity-inspired dress has always been done, and you are assured of looking fabulous (if it’s good enough for Hollywood, it’s good enough for you, right?) – just be emotionally prepared in case another girl shows up in a similar dress!  There’s no shame in duplicating a look, especially a celeb-inspired look since they are fashion icons and trendsetters.  But to avoid feeling like twins, be sure and add your own personal flare to your getup.  You can do so with bold accessories and one-of-a-kind shoes.
Short Stretch Satin Dress with Bra Back Closure. Hannah Montana co-star Emily Osment was a total WOW at the 60th Annual Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards gala in this Faviana dress.

For an added glitz, here's Hautegeneration's jeweled version of Emily Osment's dress

Tip #4:  The Long and Short of It

In previous years, long gowns have been the standard for  school dances, but today is a whole new story. Length is now an option, and short dresses are quickly rising in popularity.  So which should you choose?  If you want to stick with tradition and look classy, and romantic, then aim for a long dress. If you want youthful, fun, and sexy, then a short dress is calling your name. If length does not weigh in on your decision and you’re wavering between both, simply pick whatever looks fabulous on you!

Tip #5:  Hair and Makeup

How you get dolled up and how you complement it with your hairdo can alter your over-all look – it’s amazing what a little eye make-up can do!  But fall season is about simplicity, so there’s no need for that top model look. Ease up on the mascara, foundation, eye shadow, lip liner, etc. and apply makeup that amplifies and defines your natural tones and natural beauty. Remember, the secret to a good makeup application is to look like you’re not wearing any. Start with highlighting your best facial features and work your way down from there (i.e. if you love your lips, wear red lipstick). As for hair, conform with the theme of minimalism – the less time it looks like you spent on it, the better.  Go for loose, careless curls (either cascading down onto your shoulders or twisted into a soft bun), simple straight hair, etc.

So there, now you know how to standout for your big back-to-school celebration! So get that stunning homecoming dresses that's just perfect for you, and make the girls jealous and the boys fall in love! Shop with these tips in mind and enjoy the dance.
